NCS MISSION - RESTORE NATURE NEAR YOU!

Before talking NCS directly (see below How to Use NCS Website), please consider helping a prairie dear to our hearts - the most significant land conservation effort in SE Michigan in decades - Save Sibley Prairie! Sibley Prairie is not just land—it is one of Michigan’s most irreplaceable natural treasures. Located in Brownstown Township, Wayne County, it is the largest and highest-quality lakeplain prairie remaining in the entire state. Prairies like this once covered vast areas, but today almost all are gone. Sibley Prairie is the last of its kind. Recently, 440 acres—the very heart of the Sibley Prairie—were put up for auction. Had the sale gone through, this globally rare ecosystem would have been lost forever to development. In a dramatic turn, the owner has granted the Michigan Land Conservancy an option to purchase the land—but only if we can raise $6 million by the end of 2026. THE CLOCK IS TICKING! Fortunately, several organizations have banded together to Save Sibley Prairie.  Our goal is to raise $1,000,000. Please help here: Save Sibley Prairie | MICHIGAN LAND CONSERVANCY, Save Sibley Prairie Coalition – Coalition to Save Sibley Prairie

Our mission is to conserve and restore biological function and beauty of metro Detroit, MI ecosystems, natural resources and green infrastructure using native plants. Natural Community Services (NCS) serves that purpose using science and passion for environmental design, biodiversity & native landscaping like rain gardens & butterfly gardens - enabling clients to improve wildlife habitat in a sustainable landscape, remove invasive brush and plant native! NCS has rapid response to habitat and native plant needs, email info@naturalcommunityservices.com for fast service.

Native plants are indigenous to a particular area, referring to the flora that existed in the region before settlement. Native plants occur within specific plant communities, varying in species composition depending on the habitat. Examples of habitats in southeast MI are oak savannas, prairie meadows and forests - each habitat grows a set of native trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers, grasses & sedges that can be replicated in a garden or meadow on your land!

How to Use NCS website: We’re here to teach you to think about your ecological goals, & we make it as easy as 1-2-3! We educate all about native plants for wildlife habitat, water quality and sustainable landscapes, so choose from 2 main service groups:
