NCS MISSION - RESTORE NATURE NEAR YOU!

Natural Community Services (NCS) is an ecological restoration firm, with talented staff that can design, restore and maintain your land - with special skills in clearing woody invasives. https://www.naturalcommunityservices.com/take-action/

NCS specializes in removing woody invasive species — buckthorn, honeysuckle, autumn olive, multiflora rose, and Phragmites — and restoring native ecosystems across metro Detroit, MI.

Our mission is to conserve and restore the biological function and beauty of southeast Michigan's natural resources and green infrastructure by clearing invasive brush and replanting with native species. Natural Community Services (NCS) combines science and a passion for environmental design, biodiversity, and native landscaping — rain gardens, butterfly gardens, and more — to help clients improve wildlife habitat, remove invasive brush, and plant native. NCS offers rapid response to habitat and native plant needs — email land@naturalcommunityservices.com for fast service.

Invasive species are exotic flora and fauna which are disrupting local ecosystems; NCS specializes in removing/replacing brush, or woody invasive weeds - with native plants. Native plants are indigenous to a particular area, referring to the flora that existed in the region before settlement. Native plants occur within specific plant communities, varying in species composition depending on the habitat. Examples of habitats in southeast MI are oak savannas, prairie meadows and forests - each habitat grows a set of native trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers, grasses & sedges that can be replicated in a garden or meadow on your land!

How to Use NCS website: We’re here to teach you to think about your ecological goals, & we make it as easy as 1-2-3! We educate all about native plants for wildlife habitat, water quality and sustainable landscapes, so choose from 2 main service groups:

1) Learn how to bring nature home using native groundcover that host birds and bees, a homeowner may link to Landowners & HOA page, and email our designers & ecologists for help: https://www.naturalcommunityservices.com/natures-home land@naturalcommunityservices.com

If you are a public agency-preserve, non-profit or commercial land manager:

2) Browse across NCS ecology page tabs to find your habitat type - several ecosystems and many natural communities of Michigan are referenced; and serviced! Regardless of what kind of land you manage, if you’re unsure of goals, or what ecological assessment, design or restoration your site needs, click Consulting https://www.naturalcommunityservices.com/consulting-services/
